Science behind weight loss:Make healthy eating decisions

Course Description
BRIEF INTRODUCTIONThe Science of Weight Loss is a six week course designed for adults.

Each week my colleagues and I will take you through a new topic based on the scientific evidence behind food, nutrition, and managing weight.

The course includes a range of activities designed to help you learn more about healthy eating and achieving a healthy weight.

This week we'll cover how to accurately take measurements such as height, weight and waist circumference.

How to determine if weight loss is appropriate for someone.

How to set realistic nutrition and weight goals.

And look at some of the common motivations for weight loss.

Food is something we can’t avoid; we need to eat to survive. However, we often find ourselves overwhelmed with misinformation about nutrition and the types of food intake patterns that we should be following for weight loss and health.

The purpose of this course is to build the nutrition knowledge and skills of adults who are interested in weight management. This may be for themselves, a family member or to assist others in achieving healthy eating and weight loss goals. This course will improve understanding of how to approach weight management from a scientific based point of view.
